Can I have an in-person consult?

Yes - I am based in Mount Maunganui and welcome in-person consultations.

 

Can I have an on-line consult?

Yes - I use a secure online consultation provider called doxyme.com.  I will provide the link to my online consult room and you can join me there!

What does a health coach do?

Making changes to your habits & lifestyle can be really hard, it's difficult to make sense of all the conflicting messages out there, yet having a foundation of behaviours that supports good health is really valuable.  None of us like being told what to do, so making change is easier if you decide you want to make it, not just because someone told you "this is what you should do".  A Health Coach will work with you to fill knowledge gaps, uncover motivation, and build behaviour change strategies with you, that work for you.

What does the initial Discovery Consult cover?

We discuss your concerns and chat through your screening form.  This is where I get to know you, understand what is going on for you and answer any questions you may have.  After this consultation I put together a recommended Nutrition & Lifestyle Plan for you tailored to your unique needs.

 

What can I expect from my consultation?

Every consultation is an opportunity to tune in to what is going on for you.  Each session has lots of curious questions and discussion but will always follow a pattern - focusing on key concerns; exploring these as part of your whole self; planning action steps to address your concerns & implementation; plus identifying 1-3 key steps you can work on immediately; wrapping up with a chat around accountability. 

 

Will I need a follow up appointment / mentoring? 

Often clients find it easier to make changes when they have someone to work through the successes and failures with along the way.  Having accountability always adds a little motivation to help you stick to your plan!  I recommend it to help you experience greater success but it's still totally up to you!

Do I have to go on a diet? Do I need to exercise? Should I take supplements? 

I am not here to tell you what you should do, I'm here to share what the science says about therapy options, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress and more, so you can decide what you need to do to support yourself & your good health through menopause and beyond.  Once you decide, we together work to reset your health behaviours and habits to match that.  And it's never a linear path - which is why a health coach can be so helpful!

Should I see my GP?

If your menopause symptoms are impacting your ability to function day to day you may find it helpful to speak to your GP | Menopause Specialist who is an expert in creating a treatment plan using MHT and/or non-hormonal prescription options to mediate your symptoms.  MHT is designed specifically for pesky symptoms as you transition!  It's great for Hot Flushes & Night Sweats (and is the most effective treatment for those!) and may help with mood changes, sleep problems and joint pains. But its still just as important to adopt awesome habits and make lifestyle behaviour changes too ;-)

I'm already seeing my GP | specialist, is seeing a health coach still worthwhile?

Habits, behaviours and lifestyle are always going to impact your health, so ensuring yours are a good match for your health goals and lifestyle intentions is always going to be worthwhile.  We will also happily coordinate our care with your team of care providers to make sure we're all working together to best support you!
